Choosing a permanent career is never easy. Well, it should never be an easy one, considering the implications that the choice would have. It is certain to impact the life if the person who makes the choice, and even those of the people around him. So it is of the utmost importance for any individual to make a wise choice with respect to his career. It should not be done in a manner that is rushed or not given due thought or consideration. Ample time should be devoted to making this choice, so that the person could be sure that it is the right one for him and that there would be no room for regrets in the future.
A career is something to be proud of and will have to be chosen very wisely. That is what I have been in my mind when it was my time to make my choice. And when it was actually my time to select a career, I finally chose welding after much thinking and going back and forth with myself. It was not an easy decision to make, I really must admit. The research that I did immediately yielded very useful information for me, and that is the fact that those who study welding can find employment in a wide variety of industries. And because of that, welders have better chances of being employed than those who have been trained in other disciplines. When the compensation for welders is reviewed, it will be seen that it is so bad either, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) of the United States, the average annual salary of welders as of 2010 was $37,370.00. From that same year, the top ten percent of welders averaged a salary of $53,690.00 annually. Those who aspire to be welders can take welding courses in vocational high schools; certificate programs on welding are also offered, usually by junior colleges and some trade schools, which may take from six months to one year; associate’s degree program in welding can also serve as an option for those who wish to become welders like myself, it might take one to two years.
