Learning is never ending. Well, at least that’s how it is supposed to be. And it should be a process that continues from day to day, allowing for the development and improvement of a person’s character. In fact, life should be considered as one unending learning process that we should all try to make the most of. There is nothing but positive things in store for us if we take full advantage of each and every learning opportunity. Recognizing it and then acting upon it is a guaranteed way to have a better chance at succeeding in this life. I know I have tried my best to live that way, and it was fortunate that I really love learning new things.

Aside from things that can be considered as academic, I also long to learn practical skills that I can use in my everyday life. My book learning is thus supplemented by practical, everyday skills that I have been able to use everyday, especially around the house. One of my favorite skills is welding. I actually learned about it pretty recently, and it has already paid off quite well. Little projects at home that before would have required a professional are now taken care of more easily and quickly because of my newly acquired knowledge with handling a welder. But the key to it is my willingness to learn and expand my know-how. Without it I probably wouldn’t even consider studying something as new and different as welding.

Welding Schools in the Country

Just as important as my desire to learn something new is finding the right learning institution to get that knowledge. So I thought it best to list down a few of the best welding schools in America.

• Utah State University (Logan, Utah) – Utah State University is a well known public institution that has been ranked as the 170th best university in the country, according to the US News and World report (2011). The list of courses offered in their program includes shielded metal arc welding, weld inspection and metallurgy, trade mathematics.

• University of Alaska (Anchorage) – Ranked 75th on the US News and World News Report among the West’s best regional universities in 2011. It was founded in 1954 and offers an Associate of Applied Science Program in welding and nondestructive testing technology. Its curriculum consists of the main welding processes and the examination of metallic structures.

• West Virginia University (Parkersburg, West Virginia) – Also one of the top schools in the nation, West Virginia University is the 5th largest educational institution in West Virginia and also has a reputation for being one of the best schools as far as welding technology is concerned.
